Steven A. Walters
President, Director of Operations
Steve has been with
Meridian Air Group since it's founding in 1997. If one wonders why an
Airline Transport Pilot qualified captain elected to devote his life
to private charter aviation it helps to know Steve. Steve flew commercial
flights for years and logged thousands of hours carrying passengers
all over the country. Fortunately for us, Steve also happened to be
a family guy. And pardon the cliché, but he's also a "people
person." The private charter business was just what he was looking
for. And so was the location. Steve put away his suitcase and found
the home base he was looking for in Charlottesville (he went to school
here and learned to fly here).
Steve is the President of Meridian Air Group and the Director of Operations.
He relishes the personal relationships he shares every day and the hands-on
approach to running Meridian Air Group. Whether you find him in the
cockpit piloting a weekend getaway or in the office developing a marketing
plan, he always enjoys the journey. And if you had any doubts about
Steve's love of flight, consider how he often spends his free time
He's
a professional flight instructor.
When not taking
care of Meridian Air passengers or instructing a new pilot, Steve enjoys
movies, reading and the outdoors. He is originally from Vienna, Virginia,
and graduated from the University of Virginia in 1990 with a Bachelor
of Arts degree in Political Science. Steve received all of his flight
training in Charlottesville, and is a member of Northside Baptist Church
in Charlottesville as well. In short, Steven knows the area from ground
and air like few others. Steve's extensive background in charter and
corporate aviation make him a natural to run our business. We think
you'll agree.

Jim
P. McGuire
Aircraft Manager, Captain
For Jim, flying is a life style with a generational influence. Jim's
grandfather worked with Admiral Byrd in flying with the Antarctic projects.
Jim's father was a career air force officer that flew P-47 Thunderbolt's
in Burma during WW II. Jim is the third generation in the family. Jim's
daughter, Suzanne, earned her private pilot's license at the age of
17 making aviation four generations deep in his family.
Jim has over 14,000
hours of flight time in various types of aircraft. His early years in
aviation were in aerial surveillance with major oil companies protecting
pipelines from New Mexico to New Jersey. Low-level flying offered many
different adventures-west Texas dust storms, chasing coyotes away from
a small calf, and on one occasion being sprayed at by a skunk as he
flew by overhead.
Jim flew with Atlantic
Southeast airlines in DH-7s and various corporate jets. He has been
flying with Meridian Air Group since 1999 and really feels at home in
the Pilatus PC-12. His other interests in aviation include scale model
aircraft making and promoting WW II aircraft at air shows around the
country.
